I prioritize and value each individual’s uniqueness. My trauma-informed treatment approach is centered on integrating the distinctive aspects of your culture and values. I am attuned to how sociocultural values impact the challenges you face. My objective is to assist you in reclaiming control over your life and empower you to make beneficial decisions for yourself and your loved ones.
With more than 20 years of experience as a couple and family therapist and trauma-focused therapist, I have effectively utilized EMDR in treating clients with various traumas. These traumas include complex trauma stemming from years of childhood abuse to trauma related to combat experiences.
I feel privileged to have the opportunity to help restore hope and quality of life in trauma survivors. My primary treatment approach for trauma, depression, and anxiety is EMDR. I integrate attachment and narrative therapies and internal family systems in my work with individuals, couples, and families.
As a scientist-practitioner, I conduct clinical studies to improve treatment effectiveness, which has allowed me to integrate cutting-edge research into my practice.
While I will work at your pace, I will challenge you to progress to the next stage of your personal goals when you demonstrate readiness. Clients with single-incident trauma typically experience symptom relief within ten sessions of therapy. Complex traumas tend to take longer depending on the type, severity, and duration of trauma experienced. While I am not an advocate for long-term treatment, I understand the need for ongoing therapeutic support. This support can be in the form of periodic check-ins after relieving symptoms.
